The Hardest-Working Six Feet in a Vaughan Home
Vaughan households move: hockey three nights a week, dance, soccer, grandparents on school pickup, and all of it funnels through the door from the garage. Builders leave that spot as drywall and a single rail of hooks. We build it into a system: full-height lockers per person, a bench everyone can actually sit on at once, cubbies for the bags that leave every morning, and closed storage above for the seasonal swap. In multigenerational Vaughan homes we add zones so three generations’ coats aren’t one hydra of fabric.
Mudrooms We Build in Vaughan
For Vaughan entries we build locker and cubby walls, storage benches, coat cabinetry and charging drawers. Frequently in the same project as laundry cabinets one door away or garage storage one door the other way. More on our Vaughan page.

Frequently Asked Questions For Mudroom Storage Vaughan
How many lockers fit along a typical Vaughan garage entry?
Usually four to six full-height lockers in the hallway most builders provide. We measure door swings and traffic flow, then size lockers so the bench still seats two.
What's a family drop zone versus a mudroom?
Same idea, tuned harder for schedules: a slot for every bag that leaves daily, device charging inside a drawer, a key-and-sunglasses tray, and a launch shelf for tomorrow’s returns.
Can hockey gear really live indoors?
Ventilated locker bases with drainage trays make it possible. Pads dry between practices instead of stewing in the bag. For full equipment we often add a garage rack as the second stage.
Three generations, one entry. How do we keep peace?
Zoned lockers at different heights: low hooks for kids, standard for parents, and easy-reach mid-height for grandparents. Nobody bends or stretches for their own coat.
Do the lockers have doors or stay open?
Your choice per zone. Open lockers are faster for daily flow; doored sections hide the mess for entries visible from the kitchen. Most Vaughan families mix both.
What does a Vaughan mudroom cost?
Bench-and-hooks starts modestly; a full locker wall with closed uppers and charging is a bigger build. The free in-home design ends with an exact quote.
Can it survive slush, salt and cleats?
Yes, textured moisture-resistant surfaces, sealed edges and waterproof boot trays are standard spec; the system is designed to be hosed-down honest.
Is one day really enough to install it?
For nearly every mudroom, yes. Cabinetry is finished in our Toronto-area workshop, and our own installers have it working before the evening rush hits the door.
Should we do the mudroom before or after the laundry room?
Together, ideally, they share traffic and finishes, and combining them into one design visit and one install saves both cost and disruption.
